KAYAK GEAR
Waterproof Cold-Weather Fishing Gloves
Stay Warm and Dry on the Water
Waterproof paddle gloves are essential for cold and wet fishing trips, keeping your hands warm and dry.

KastKing Waterproof Gloves
They block wind and water while offering excellent grip, so you can focus on paddling or reeling in your catch.
Why They’re a Game-Changer
Cold, wet hands can ruin even the best fishing day, but waterproof gloves keep you protected from the elements.
With textured palms for grip and insulation for warmth, they help you stay comfortable and in control.
Tips for Picking the Right Pair
Choose gloves that fit snugly but allow flexibility for tying knots or handling gear.
Look for features like reinforced palms and adjustable wrists to enhance durability and comfort.
The right gloves can turn a chilly day on the water into a memorable winter fishing adventure!

Smallmouth Bass
Geof is out there still banging the toad smallies!

Smallmouth Bass
December is prime time for targeting smallmouth bass if you know where to look.
These fish often move to deeper waters as temperatures drop, preferring rocky ledges and underwater structures where they can find food and shelter.
Slow presentations work best, so try dragging a tube jig or bouncing a drop shot rig along the bottom.
Keep an eye on your fish finder—finding the right depth can make all the difference this time of year.

THREE FISHING TIPS
Kayak Fishing in the Winter
Winter kayak fishing can be incredibly rewarding, but it takes the right approach to stay safe and reel in some big catches.
Here are three tips to make your cold-weather outings successful and enjoyable.
1. Dress for the Elements
Staying warm and dry is critical for winter fishing. Invest in waterproof, insulated gear to protect against the cold.
Wear a dry suit or waterproof layers.
Add thermal base layers and wool socks.
Keep a hat and gloves handy to preserve heat.
2. Target Deep-Water Fish
In winter, fish often retreat to deeper water where the temperature is more stable. Adjust your strategy to find their sweet spots.
Use your fish finder to locate deeper structures.
Try slow-moving baits to match the season’s pace.
Focus on areas near drop-offs or ledges.
3. Stay Safe and Prepared
Cold water can be dangerous, so safety is a must. A few precautions can make all the difference.
Always wear your PFD, even on calm days.
Pack a dry bag with extra clothes and safety gear.
Let someone know your fishing plans and expected return time.
🎣 Winter kayak fishing can be a peaceful and productive adventure if you’re prepared. Stay warm, stay safe, and enjoy the unique experience of fishing in the cold!
TASTY RECIPES
Sauteed Crappie with Butter Sauce
😋 If rich, buttery goodness is your thing, then this recipe is a must-try!

Sauteed Crappie with Butter Sauce
Ingredients:
Eight crappie fillets’ skin removed
1 cup all-purpose flour
One tablespoon salt
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
One tablespoon of garlic powder
Five tablespoons of butter chilled
Two tablespoons of olive oil
1/4 cup dry white wine
One lemon juice only
1/3 cup fresh basil leaves
Eight slices tomato about 1/4-inch thick
1 avocado sliced into eight thin slices
Instructions:
Combine flour, salt, white pepper, and garlic powder in a small bowl. Dust fish with flour mixture.
Heat 2 tablespoons of the butter and the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add fish and brown on one side, about 3 – 4 minutes. Flip the fish over and cook for two more minutes. Remove fish and keep warm.
Add wine and lemon juice and stir to loosen bits stuck to the pan. Reduce liquid to just a few tablespoons. Stir in basil and remaining chilled butter, stirring until butter is melted. Remove from heat.
For each serving, arrange one slice of tomato on a plate. Top with one piece of fish and then avocado slices. Place tomato over avocado, then fish, and then 2 more slices of avocado. Drizzle butter sauce over and serve.

SALTWATER CATCH
Redfish
A limit of nice reds makes for a terrific morning!

Nice stringer of Reds!
🎣 When you're fishing for redfish in shallow water, move slow and stay quiet. These fish spook easily, so paddle gently and watch for signs like tailing fins or ripples.
🐟️ Artificial baits like soft plastics or topwater lures are great choices. Cast a shrimp-shaped lure or paddle-tail swimbait near grass lines or oyster beds to get their attention.
🌅 Early mornings or evenings are the best times to find active redfish. Focus on spots with moving water, as redfish like to ambush prey where the tide flows.
