GEAR
Fishing Rod Tethers

Using a fishing rod tether is a smart move for any kayak fisherman. When you're out on the water, it’s easy for your rod to slip overboard, especially if you’re juggling gear or fighting a fish.

  • A tether keeps your rod securely attached to your kayak, so even if it falls, it’s not going anywhere.

Not only does a tether give you peace of mind, but it also saves you money.

  • Replacing a lost rod can be expensive, and nobody wants their day cut short by losing their favorite gear.

With a tether, you can focus on fishing without worrying about your rod taking an unexpected swim.

Plus, using a tether is super convenient. It doesn’t get in the way of your cast or reel, and it’s easy to attach and detach when needed.

A tether like the C.E. Smith 8’ Fishing Rod Tether is a small investment that makes your kayak fishing trips a whole lot smoother and stress-free.

THREE FISHING TIPS
Braided Fishing Line

Tips for Using Braided Fishing Lines

1. Use a Leader

  • Braided lines are strong but visible in clear water. Tie on a fluorocarbon or monofilament leader to keep your setup stealthy and avoid spooking fish.

2. Check Your Knots

  • Braided lines are slippery, so make sure you’re using the right knots, like the Palomar or double uni knot. These will hold strong and keep your lure secure.

3. Adjust Your Drag

  • Braided lines don’t stretch, which means you'll feel every nibble. But be careful—set your drag a bit looser to avoid breaking off when a fish makes a sudden run.
